my favorite book
As a student, we have study for many years. During there years, we study Chinese, English, science and so on. In this period, with the improvement of our knowledge, we not only read the books in class but also read extracurricular after school. In my opinion Dream of the red chamber is the best book I have read. In this book, the great author Cao xueqin his view about love. He had firmly faith in what is the true love and try to tell us that there are different kinds of love, only one kind which should be considered as True Love.
In a dream, and under mythical circumstances, the main character of the novel, Jia baoyu, met the Fairy Disenchantment in the Land of Illusions. She showed him three "registers" each containing the names and "the happenings in life" of 12 girls in his clan. Each girl represents a kind of love.
From the stories which are unfolding in the novel, the reader should know the characteristics of the different kinds of love, and should be able to distinguish True Love from the other kinds.
True love is acceptance, committal, mutual and without any post conditions. The love between Lin daiyu and Jia baoyu is considered to be True Love. Just saying or hearing I love you is not good enough because talk is cheap. Action in mutual commitment is essential, as we can see in the novel.
We always have dreams. What’s ours dream? Do you know what you exactly want? And do you work hard for it. In this book, you can taste the feeling of the author about his strong will. In his words, you can find the charm of Chinese. It is not a book, but a precious deposits. You can get a lot from it. But unfortunately, the novel was never "completed" to such a state. On the other hand, maybe, it is another kind of beauty of the book. If you have not read this book yet, just go and read it. You will love it.
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
In the story, the main characters are Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Mad-Eye Moody, Ludo Bagman, Barty Crouch, and Voldemort.
Harry is loyal, brave, and adventurous. Hermione is intelligent and bossy, and Ron is a poor boy with a good sense of humor who tries hard to be recognized within his large family. Mad-Eye Moody is a ugly character with gray hair, a badly scarred face. Ludo Bagman is a former Death Eater who loves to gamble and is now part of the Ministry of Magic. Barty Crouch hates Ludo Bagman. He is the wizard most capable of catching a Death Eater and is part of the Ministry of Magic. Voldemort is the most feared wizard of all and crossing his path always means death. He is the leader of the Death Eaters.
The story takes place at The Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The Triwizard Tournament, a competition between three schools: Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, and Durmstrang, is taking place. One participant is selected to represent each school. Cedric Diggory is chosen to represent Hogwarts but mysteriously, Harry Potter is chosen as well. The tournament participants are required to complete three tasks. The first task includes getting past a dragon to retrieve an egg, the second requires swimming in a lake to rescue one’s most prized possession, and the third is to navigate a maze to reach the Triwizard Cup. After the first two challenges, Harry is tied with Cedric, and because they are friends they agree to touch the Cup at the same time so they will both win. The Cup turns out to be a Portkey, (a vehicle of transference from one place to another) and it transports Cedric and Harry to Voldemort at the Riddle House. Voldemort kills Cedric, and then challenges Harry to a duel. Voldemort has the same wand as Harry and when two of the same wands duel with each other they don’t work as well. All of Voldemort’s previous victims appear at the end of his wand and Harry’s mother is one of them. She is able to immobilize Voldemort for a moment and she advises Harry to run quickly to the Portkey which will immediately transfer him back to Hogwarts. Harry successfully reaches the Portkey just in time.
I really liked this book because it was interesting and it always left me in suspense. I wasn’t discouraged by the length of the book because I would start reading at about 8:00 pm each night and continue until about 10:00 pm. I could never put it down. I would recommend this book to everyone.
These books value real thoughts. Much has been made of Harry's rule breaking, but only once in the series so far does he break a rule for arbitrary personal gain. Most of the time he makes a decision that what's right is more important than what's written. And you know what? Life's like that sometimes. I think it's great that kids are getting an example of how to do what's right even when it involves breaking rules. The Potter books also show that there are consequences for rule breaking. If not getting caught and getting a detention, then a spell going wrong and someone getting turned into a cat. This shows that when you make a decision to go against the rules that things may not go as you expected and you have to take responsibility for the outcome.
